If you want a more secured Operating system and escape the unsecured Windows and Macs, why not try FreeBSD. It is a Unix-like os which came from AT&T UNIX via the Berkeley Software Distribution(BSD). The minimal configurations to install a FreeBSD varies differently according to its version and the hardware architecture. FreeBSD and X11 is one of the configurations that gives a lot of headache to a lot of users.You'll would need to know your machine's monitor specifications, video adapter chipset, and video adapter memory, to be able to make the configurations right.
