The recent state of affairs for a Microsoft update had been explained from early this year. This had altered the way Firefox works without informing users.
That surely led to a .NET vulnerability issue which had been affecting Firefox just as much as it was affecting Internet Explorer. Two more such incidents were described by the Think Security article, Update Cautiously, with very wide-ranging effects that will be remembered for years to come.
One of which was describes as being the patches for the vulnerability that was targeted by the SQL Slammer worm that uninstalled themselves. The other would simply be deployment of Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 1, of which had killed the functionality of software that was much important.
